Odysseus and his crew sailed the Mediterranean as ruthless raiders, plundering its coasts, looting its treasures, and dragging into slavery the peaceful peoples they encountered along their path. Their ship drifted without colors or insignia, silent and menacing, while the sailors’ faces remained hidden behind bandages so that none might recognize them.
And yet, the ancient lost songs of the Sirens tell a different version of this tale. They speak of a small band of heroes who, unbeknownst to their own captain, chose to stand against such cruelty. From the shadows, during every raid, they came to the aid of the attacked peoples, saving as many lives as they could and seeking, through those acts of courage, to earn the trust of future allies. Their aim was a bold one: to overthrow Odysseus and bring an end to his devastation. But the fate of their design has been lost in the silence of myth, and no legend tells whether they ever succeeded. Now it falls to you to bring the truth back to light and rewrite the true story of the Odyssey. In Troy: Black Tales, the Trojan War is stripped of every veil of heroism and destiny, revealing its harshest truth: a story of conquest, violence, and survival. The Greek heroes are no noble champions, but ruthless warlords driven by pride and vengeance, while their followers are little more than instruments of destruction in service of the siege.
In the Iliad, you will choose your place in this gloryless conflict: to fight among the besiegers, tearing down walls and cutting down lives in the name of victory, or to stand with the besieged, resisting with grim determination as the city and its fate collapse beneath the crushing weight of war. In the Aeneid, amid the smoldering ruins of the fallen city, Aeneas gathers the survivors and leads them away from the ashes toward an uncertain future. It is the beginning of a new journey, once again marked by conflict, suffering, and bloodshed upon foreign shores—a path destined to shape the future of Italy. |
